Bulletin 26-Sept-04

Who is Sitting at my Gate?

It can be easy to put my hand in my pocket and place a generous donation on the collection plate for almost anywhere in the world with a humanitarian need.

It can be less easy to respond to a "Lazarus" a little nearer home, not begging for money, but my own time, a rare enough commodity in our busy world today.

We may know someone in our family or community today who needs our friendship, our forgiveness, our appreciation or recognition.

Today's Gospel is less about giving from our wealth and abundance, and more about giving of ourselves out of care and compassion.

The time to give is now!

"The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made." (Ps. 145.9)
