MARY'S DESTINY - OUR DESTINY

The Gospel story for today of Mary's visit to Elizabeth, is about a meeting of two women; one young, one elderly, carrying new life.  They are both filled with the wonder at what God had chosen for them; both strengthened by a faith-filled understanding of God's will for them - their destiny.

Mary has already shown us, by the example of her life, how to reach our destiny.  By always saying ‘yes' to God, and accepting His plan for us, the words of Mary's Song of Praise, "the Almighty has done great things for me..." (Lk 1:49), can be ours too!

By her Assumption, Mary has led the way for us and assumed a new way of being present to us.  Let us celebrate her Assumption by bringing hope and joy into some person's life today.
